The black and white rig is for the Nenana Ice Classic. The idea is to predict when the river will thaw each year. They place this rig on the ice and connect it to a clock. When it moves the clock registers the time and the person closest wins the money. This year the ice broke on May 20th at 2:41pm and the winner received $318,500.00
